The Boab tree is found in the Kimberley region of Australia.
Every boab tree is unique, coming in many different sizes and shapes, although the trunk is known for it's fat "bottom". Some individual boab trees are 1500 years old and older, which makes them the oldest living beings in Australia, and puts them amongst the oldest in the world.
The Australian boab tree is related to the Madagascan Boababs.
A mature boab tree an amazing sight. They are not particularly high, maybe up to around 15 metres, but they appear huge. The swollen trunk can reach a massive girth of up to 20 metres.
